What Makes You Come Alive? Drew Hunthausen, Blind Motivational Speaker

If you were to make a resume of your life for the purpose of interviewing for a job, would you look at that resume and hire yourself? I’m not talking about just a list of your job history and schooling. I’m referring to your whole journey, your experiences, your accomplishments, your mistakes, the way you treat others, your attitude, your integrity, and your character.

What if after doing this little exercise you asked yourself, “am I really living my best life? Am I truly alive or am I just getting by day to day, just existing ?”

If you are not living up to your potential or being the best version of yourself that you can possibly be, then why not? What might be the problem?

I believe that far too many of us live day to day just trying to get by and make it to tomorrow. Much of the time we don’t actually realize that is what we are doing because we haven’t taken the time to determine what it is that makes us come alive.

Asking yourself what makes you come alive is the first step toward living the life you were meant to live. It starts within you as you develop a desire to identify your gifts and talents. The best way to do this is to determine what makes you come alive. When you are operating with your innate gifts is when you feel alive.

Perhaps I can give you an example with my own life. Through a series of experiences as well as an actual gifts and talents class, I was able to determine and understand that I truly come alive when I am encouraging others. A word that is used for someone like me is an exhorter.

I am operating with this gift and talent as an inspirational speaker, but a person with similar gifts and talents could also come alive as a physical therapist, coach, or any activity or job where encouragement and coaching are involved. So put some thought into what jobs, experiences, and activities make you come alive and you will be well on your way to uncovering your innate gifts and talents.

All of this involves personal change, and the hardest of changes to make are those within ourselves. Nothing in life worth having comes easy, but the rewards of learning to come alive will always be worth it.

What is it that makes you come alive? What is it that you need to do or change to make sure it happens each and every day?

My friends, all of you have incredible gifts and potential. Each one of you has the ability to come alive and do great things. Each one of you has greatness within you!
