Inspired to Play the Hand We are Dealt, Drew Hunthausen, Blind Inspirational Speaker

Inspiration, motivation, transformation! Every time I have the opportunity to speak to a group, join my triathlon club for a workout, or swim across Lake Tahoe in a team event with other visually impaired athletes, I am both humbled and filled with joy for the privilege to be a messenger of encouragement, along with the encouragement I receive in the process.

I am frequently reminded of the amazing gifts and talents each and every one of you has to offer. Each of you are unique, but what you do with this valuable uniqueness is up to you. Having a positive attitude and abundance of gratitude, while limiting the excuses, is especially vital as you move forward in your life’s journey.

As I prepare for the Lake Tahoe swim this weekend, I am excited for the opportunity  to compete alongside and get to know 5 other visually impaired athletes, like myself. Each of them have their own specialized gifts and talents to offer. I’m looking forward to hearing their incredible stories, and to leave inspired.

The hand we our dealt in life is truly never the one we envisioned for ourselves, but with the grace of God and the help of others it is one we can learn to play with joy, peace and love! Take these words to heart, go out into the world and use your individual, incredible, and unique hand to be all that God created you to be. For the best is yet to come!

Here is one of my favorite quotes from Zig Ziegler that I’d like to leave you with.

“The only difference between the big shot and the little shot is the big shot is simply a little shot that kept shooting.”
