Inspired to Embrace the True You – Superman Can’t Compete!

Halloween is a holiday that has always been fascinating to me. As a kid the thought of getting an enormous amount of candy and dressing up as a favorite character for a day was fun and exciting. It is still interesting and fun to see and experience the many costumes, some quite creative, some very scary, and some just plain weird!

In today’s culture it seems that the media and society put a “scary, wicked, haunted” portrayal on Halloween with much exaggeration on the “scary”. While I loved to create a costume and be someone else for a day, looking back, none of my chosen costumes were of the “scary” variety. The thrill for me was being someone else like Superman or Luke Skywalker, even if it was only for an evening.

What inspired me most in writing this post is the fact that looking back and remembering all my costumes, at the end of the night the one thing that was at the top of my list and on my mind to do, was to take my costume off and relax. Only then could I truly experience the gratitude of a comfortable seat and a successful candy haul!

As humans we are far from perfect. All of us make mistakes, and at times wish we were someone else. That someone else often has better looks, more money, a better job, is smarter and taller, or maybe even in a different family, and the list could go on. What I have come to realize is how important it is to embrace the person you really are, the unique individual that God created you to be!

Halloween is a fun holiday when we get to be this “someone else” for a day, but I encourage you to embrace the amazing unique person that is you. Take the one day on Halloween to dress up and be someone different, but have an intention to spend the other 364.5 displaying the great talented individual you truly are. You have what it takes to be happy and successful. Believe it and you will achieve it!!!

So next year when you finish with the Halloween festivities and thankfully get to take the costume off, you can be inspired and smile at your true self in the mirror knowing that you are more valuable and powerful than any super hero, and that for you, “the best is yet to come”!

The power of self-love and “your” purpose in life is one of the reasons I became an inspirational and motivational speaker. I am based in the Orange County/Los Angeles County area of Southern California, and am open to booking speaking events anywhere a car can drive me or a plane can fly me, and the finances will permit. My desire and mission is to share my story and message to help you live a life blessed with a positive attitude, an abundance of gratitude, and no excuses!!
