Have you ever spent just a few minutes reflecting on the way you spend your time? From the moment your alarm clock sounds and you climb out of bed, to the late hour when you shed your clothes exhausted and are looking forward to a good night’s rest. Do you ask yourself what have you accomplished? Do you see balance in your day to day routine, or is it consumed with too much work, or too much play, or maybe too much of not much?
I’m sure all of you have heard the saying “time flies”. While that seems to be more and more true the older you get, the good news is that you are the pilot of this time flying machine, and you are in charge of the direction you travel.
You must spend a little time deciding who you want to be, where you want to travel, what it will take, and what you must do to get there. These are the first critical steps in understanding how your time management strategy will develop.
There are must do’s, should do’s, and would like to do’s. Make a plan to guarantee the must do’s get done. The rest will typically take care of themselves and you will likely stay on the course you set.
My friends, the challenge for all of us then is to seize the moment and make every second of those hours we have been given count. Let us all captain our ship to a place we have chosen to go, not just a place we end up.
When you look at the most successful people, the ones who are the happiest, they are this way most often because they embraced their 24 hrs. When we can all learn how to do this and make the most out of the same 24 hours a day we have, we can be even more confident that the best is yet to come!
