Gratitude Changes Everything

pic - grateful spelled in scrabbleBeautiful music, grateful hearts, inspiring voices; these are the thoughts that were going through my head as I exited the church service Sunday before last. My whole being was full of gratitude!

Last night as I was spending a little time on Facebook, I noticed a post from a friend who attends the same church. It just so happens that there was an outdoor baptism ceremony after the service that I couldn’t stay for, and my friend Katlyn was one of the ones being baptized. I am totally blind, but through the picture she posted on Facebook, I could feel the radiant smile on her face, a smile of gratitude and happiness that transcends anything physical. This smile broke through the internet waves of Facebook and warmed my heart. The feeling of her smile made me thankful for life.

This past week was Thanksgiving in the United States, but wherever you live, take a moment each day to be grateful. Putting on that attitude of gratitude in spite of our challenges is one of the most powerful gifts we can give ourselves. We are invited to focus less on concerns, what is broken in our lives or what we wish were different, and instead focus on good things we have, the loving people in our lives and the many blessings that surround us.

When you put your mind and focus on it, you can find a multitude of things to be grateful for! Practice it long enough and you will find that this attitude is the perfect fit, and you will never want to take it off.

For with a thankful heart, only the best is yet to come!
